Congratulations to our February aide of the month. Larissa Frenkel has been working for Family & Children’s Service for more than 15 years. She received her certification through the FCS Homemaker program.

Larissa has helped many members of her family when they were ill.  She moved to Brooklyn from Ukraine and was undecided about a career.  Larissa wanted to explore all the options her new country had to offer. Her husband shared all of the available healthcare professions and the duties of a CHHA matched her personality.

She shared with us that FCS had provided the necessary tools that helped her CHHA career.

All CHHAs must complete 76 hours of specialized training, pass a competency evaluation, and undergo a criminal background check before becoming certified and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.  CHHAs work under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse and must undergo training in personal care skills, including bathing, dressing, shopping, meal preparation, Range of Motion assistance, and a variety of other tasks.

Larissa was selected to be the February aide of the month for going above and beyond her duties. When asked where her clients would be without her care, she responded. ” My clients need me and rely on my help each day.”

She explained she assists with shopping, bathing, and ensures the home remains neat for the client and their families.

Larissa would tell someone who was becoming an aide that “it’s important to help the elderly; make sure you work hard!”

Thank you Larissa for all of your hard work and again, congratulations.
