Hundreds of Local Teens Shop the 2012 FCS Prom Boutique
More than 600 Donated Dresses and Gowns Make Annual Event a Success
Long Branch, NJ, May 1, 2012 – Going to prom was made a lot easier this year for hundreds of local teens, thanks to the generosity of those who supported FCS's third annual prom event, “Countless Dresses, Countless Memories.” More than 600 new and gently worn prom gown and dresses were donated to the 2012 Prom Boutique held March 30 & 31st at the FCS Thrift Boutique in Long Branch.

Debbie O'Donoghue Named Chair of FCS Board of Directors

Long Branch, NJ, Feb. 9, 2012 –Little Silver resident Debbie O’Donoghue was recently named Chair of the Board of Directors of Family Children’s Service (FCS), Monmouth County’s oldest non-profit social service agency, succeeding Dolores Klein whose two-year term expired in December. A 15-year volunteer with FCS, Debbie has served on the agency’s Board of Directors for more than eight years and has chaired a number of important board committees including the agency’s largest fundraiser, the annual fall Gala.

Panera Bread donates $12,000 to Family & Children’s Service

gift of reading today, thanks to a special partnership between FCS and five area Panera Bread cafes. For the second consecutive year, the Panera cafes in Freehold, Shrewsbury, Howell, Middletown and
Ocean Township raised more than $12,000 for FCS through the company’s Operation Dough-Nation® program, helping to provide free books, backpacks, school supplies and reading mentors to nearly 4,000 local elementary school students.

Special Children’s Boutique
Long Branch, NJ, Feb. 9, 2012 – FCS will hold a special “Children’s Boutique” Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at its Thrift Boutique at 307 Branchport Avenue in Long Branch. The two-day event, which will feature new and pre-loved clothing, shoes and outwear for infants, children and young teens, is the inspiration of a group of local high school students who call themselves the “Rockin’ Angels.”

Annual Gala Honors Long-standing FCS Board Members and Community Leaders
Long Branch, NJ, Nov. 9, 2011 – More than 200 friends, family and supporters of
FCS braved the early winter snowstorm Saturday, October 29, to dine and dance the night away at the FCS’s annual fall gala “Under a Tuscan Moon” at Deal Golf & Country Club, raising $128,000 for the century-old agency. The annual event, the largest fundraiser of the year, was a huge success, raising vital funds for programs like child literacy, Medicare assistance, home health care and adult protective services.

FCS Launches Annual Backpack Drive
Panera® Bakeries to Serve as Drop-Off Sites
Long Branch, NJ, August 15, 2011 – Family & Children’s Service is getting some much-needed help from Panera® Cafes for its Reading Buddies Backpack Project. The local cafes will serve as collection sites for families and individuals who wish to drop off new backpacks and school supplies for the annual drive. FCS's Backpack Project serves hundreds of elementary school students in underserved communities throughout Monmouth County.
